PwC

PwC has appointed Fiona Carpenter as a partner in its UK financial services tax practice. Fiona specialises in alternative asset management and has 20 years experience helping alternative managers and funds with tax structuring and compliance. She will lead PwC's alternative asset management practice throughout EMEA. Fiona, who joins from EY, was chief financial officer for TT International, a boutique asset manager, between 2010 to 2013. This provided her with an appreciation of the wider regulatory, legal and commercial issues impacting alternative asset managers. She has also served as an elected member of the AIMA Council.

Buchanan

Buchanan is pleased to announce the appointment of Alex Brown as partner. Alex joins Buchanan from Weber Shandwick, where he was director and focused on advising financial services firms during his 11 year tenure. Prior to Weber Shandwick, he started his career at Citigate Dewe Rogerson. With over 20 years’ experience Alex is a leading specialist in advising financial services companies on their strategic communications with a broad range of stakeholders. He has advised clients including Lloyd’s of London, Barclays Wealth, Nasdaq, the European Banking Authority, Credit Suisse Asset Management, St James’s Place, BoNY Mellon, Mazars, HSBC and Promontory Financial Group. Alex’s appointment is a significant step for Buchanan in building upon its broad offering in the financial services sector.

RBC

RBC Investor & Treasury Services, part of Royal Bank of Canada, has announced the appointment of Geert Pick as managing director, global head of product management, shareholder services. Based in London, Geert joins the RBC Investor & Treasury Services’ product management team and reports to Paul Stillabower, global head of product management. Pick is accountable for setting the strategic direction of I&TS’ Transfer Agency product and aligning it with client and industry requirements. He joins RBC from Genpact where he was an associate vice president, responsible for digital transformation initiatives for strategic capital markets clients. Prior to that, Geert worked for Gartner, a technology research and advisory consulting firm, in its banking and investment services team. RBC Investor & Treasury Services has been steadily adding industry experts to its global operations, including the recent hires of Aneet Shah, managing director, head of global client experience and Wendy Phillis, managing director, governance and regulatory solutions, Europe and Asia-Pacific.
