Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson insists it would be wrong to portray Wilfried Zaha as the club’s saviour against relegation despite his goalscoring Premier League return against Chelsea.

Zaha, making his first Eagles appearance since the opening day of the season, netted the winner as Palace chalked up their first points of the season by beating defending champions Chelsea on Saturday. Palace visit Newcastle on Saturday.

“He’s a top-class player, he has been a talisman for Palace in the past,” said former England manager Hodgson. “But football is a team game, it’s unfair to suggest that it’s down to one man to get us out of the mess we’re in.”
