There's no point leaving the Square Mile this weekend, for one of its newest openings has just been named the UK's best city hotel. You might as well just book a room and settle in.

A list of the UK's best places to stay ranked gargantuan restaurant slash bar slash hotel slash spa slash members' club complex The Ned London, which opened in April, as the UK's best place to stay.

"[The Ned] was chosen for its buzzing crowds, rooftop bars and skyline views," said The Sunday Times, which published the ranking.

The hotel has 252 rooms, 15 bars, nine restaurants, a Cowshed Spa and a Soho House, leading the list's compilers to dub it "more a small village than a hotel".

CitizenM, near the Tower of London, was also included in the list.

"One of the world’s most creative cities is finally getting the creative hotel scene it deserves", said Stephen Bleach, travel editor at The Sunday Times.

"The Ned has upped the game, with its theatrical lobby and blend of history and innovation. And at the same time, clever chain hotels like CitizenM and the Hoxton are showing that quality in London doesn’t have to come with a huge price tag.”
