Oilfield services firm Wood Group has won a multi-million dollar contract from Total to support its UK refinery for up to seven years.

Wood Group, which completed a £2.2bn merger with Amec Foster Wheeler earlier this week, said it will provide onshore maintenance services for the Lindsey Oil Refinery in Lincolnshire for five years with the option to extend the contract for up to two years. The new contract will start on 1 January 2018.

Wood Group and Total have existing agreements on UK offshore and onshore assets in the North Sea area.

Robin Watson, chief executive of Wood Group, said: “We are strategically focused on leveraging our proven offshore track record of strong service, to broaden our downstream footprint in the UK; and this contract win achieves this.

“Our extensive capabilities in offshore maintenance, gained from over two decades of working with Total, position us uniquely to maximise the productivity while maintaining the integrity of this significant asset.”

Earlier this year the company said work in the North Sea was "particularly challenging" as profit tumbled 86.7 per cent for the first half of the year.
