Today's City Moves cover asset management, legal eagles and investment trusts. Take a look at these movers and shakers:

Pacific Asset Management

Pacific Asset Management (PAM), the asset management arm of John Beckwith’s Pacific Investments Group, has appointed Ben Sears as head of UK adviser strategy to establish Pacific’s DFM Solutions for Advisers. Before joining PAM, Ben held senior positions at Shore Capital and was investors director at leading UK fintech firm Seedrs. Prior to this he spent eight years at GAM, where he helped establish and build their £1bn risk-rated portfolio solutions business for advisers. Ben has over 12 years professional experience and read Law at Southampton University. The group has also appointed Paul McLernon as its chief operating officer. He was previously the chief operating officer of Pensato Capital, an equity long short manager. He started his career in operations at Goldman Sachs in 2000.

Taylor Wessing

Taylor Wessing has strengthened its UK executive board with the appointment of Sian Skelton. Her appointment follows Taylor Wessing's announced intention in August this year to appoint a female board member, to help further the firm’s diversity agenda. Sian joined Taylor Wessing 12 years ago and has successfully developed her career in the firm’s IT, telecoms and competition team, specialising in advising technology companies in particular US businesses setting up in Europe and UK clients seeking fast growth. Sian was promoted to senior counsel in 2013 and achieved partnership in 2015. As a full member of the UK executive board, Sian will be involved in all aspects of the board’s activities and will ensure that all strands of diversity receive the appropriate level of support and profile.

British Empire Trust

British Empire Trust has appointed Susan Noble, a non-executive director of the company since March 2012, will become chairman following the forthcoming annual general meeting on 20 December. Susan succeeds Strone Macpherson, who has been chairman since December 2007 and a non-executive director of the company since December 2002. Susan Noble has held a number of senior roles in investment management, including chairman of Alliance Trust Investments and a non-executive director of Alliance Trust. She is currently chairman of Newton Investment Management and an associate director at Manchester Square Partners. Susan was previously a managing director of Goldman Sachs Asset Management and head of European and global equities and, prior to that, a director and senior European portfolio manager at Robert Fleming Asset Management.
