Chapel Down boosts wine-inspired beers with appointment of ex-Brewdog MD

The English wine producer that supplies to Downing Street is looking to beef up its beer offering with the appointment of a new managing director.

Chapel Down has appointed a new managing director of beer in the form of former Brewdog MD of Brewing and International, Gareth Bath.

The creation of the new role heralds renewed focus on growing Chapel Down's Curious beer and cider brand.

The brewery's output takes inspiration from the world of winemaking, with products including a lager refermented in Champagne yeast and a cider fermented in Bacchus wine yeast.

"I love the proposition on the beers," said Bath. "They are unique – and I am looking forward to building the new brewery, creating a great team, giving the consumer an amazing experience and exciting the trade. We can take Curious onto the world stage.”

Chief executive of Chapel Down Frazer Thompson said: "Not only are we challenging the greatest brands of wine in the World with our wines, but have also developed Curious as a unique and distinctive proposition in a thriving but competitive beer marketplace. We have been excited by the success of the beer, but we think there is a truly huge opportunity."
