Drinking on the job is probably not encouraged where you work, but a brewing company is hiring a new member of staff who will be paid to do just that.

Applications at the Meantime Brewing Company have opened, and they’re are looking for a part-time Beer Taster to join their panel of brewers as they taste, discuss and pass opinion on a range of different beers.

Sound like just the job you’ve been waiting for all your life? Here are the important details you need to know before you apply.

The Meantime Brewing Company is based in Greenwich, South London and the area has great transport links, so there’s no need to make excuses about a ‘bad commute’.

Will I need any experience?

As long as you know your Pale Ale from your IPA, chocolate malt from dark malt, and Fuggles from Cascade hops, then you're good to go. You will also need to be a strong team player, and possess taste buds for detection (obviously).

What are the hours like?

Should you be successful, you will be required to work part time: three hours per week on Friday mornings. Sounds easy enough - the weekend starts here!

What else?

You will probably need to be over 18 due to the nature of the role - sorry youngsters. A competitive salary is on offer and there are lots of beer benefits, too.

Required qualifications for a professional beer taster:

  • A passion for beer and taste buds that match

  • An understanding of global consumer markets

  • A firm grasp of the English language

  • Versed in the terminology and vocabulary of beer

How do I apply?
