Apple chief executive Tim Cook has promised Donald Trump he will build “three big plants, beautiful plants” in the US, the President has claimed.
In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Trump suggested he may have emotionally blackmailed the Silicon Giant into agreeing it.
"I said you know, Tim, unless you start building your plants in this country, I won’t consider my administration an economic success,” Trump said. “He called me, and he said they are going forward.”
This was one of his many campaign issues, telling voters back in March he was "going to get Apple to start making their computers and their iPhones on our land, not in China... How does it help us when they make it in China?”
Neither Cook nor Apple have commented on Trump's comments yet.
No deal can be formally signed until the UK leaves the European Union, however.
