Litigator Jane Howard has joined Reed Smith’s commercial dispute group. Jane was previously a partner at Gowling WLG, where she specialised in handling disputes for the larger accountancy firms. Jane has more than 20 years of experience as a litigator and is particularly well known for her work for the larger accountancy firms and international networks. She looks after a full spectrum of their legal needs including defending claims and handling regulatory/disciplinary matters. Many of her matters have an international or multi-jurisdictional dimension. She is widely renowned in the accountancy industry for her specialist expertise and is a member of the audit and assurance special interest group at the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
TSB yesterday announced the appointment, subject to regulatory approval, of Richard Davies as the lender’s commercial banking director. It is a newly created role within TSB’s executive team to spearhead the bank’s ramp up in business banking. Richard will join TSB at the end of 2017. He has broad experience of building and leading commercial banking, with a particular passion for SMEs and digital innovation. Richard previously joined HSBC in 2014 as chief operating officer for the UK commercial bank, responsible for a range of areas including lending products, business and regulatory change, client on-boarding and digital transformation. In 2016, Richard moved to a global role at HSBC focused on driving strategic change for clients, with a design led focus on digital innovation and client experience. Prior to joining HSBC, Richard was CEO of SME focused challenger bank OakNorth, where he led the process to design the business model, develop regulatory licence submissions, and recruit the team to enter the UK market. Previously, Richard spent nine years in senior roles at Barclays.
Eland Oil & Gas
West Africa-focused oil and gas production and development company Eland Oil & Gas has appointed Ronald Bain as chief financial officer. The appointment will take effect from 1 August. Ron recently led the financial integration planning for the Baker Hughes/GE oil and gas merger. Prior to this he was the regional accounting director of Europe, Africa and Russia/Caspian for Baker Hughes, responsible for all financial reporting, financial management and compliance activities in more than 40 countries. He has a depth of experience with roles of increasing scope and responsibility including controllership, company secretarial and treasury with companies such as Baker Hughes, BJ Services and Donsider Paper Company.
