Jaguar has unveiled its fastest XJ saloon to date, the new XJR575, which takes 44 seconds to go from 0mph to 186mph.

The new model, available from £93,710, goes from 0-62mph in 4.4 seconds, with a 5.0-litre V8 supercharged engine producing 700Nm of torque.

Jaguar’s also aiming to up its tech creds with a larger 10-inch touchscreen included and 4G Wi-Fi, along with “intelligent safety measures” including autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist, and driver condition monitoring. The larger touchscreen functions like a smartphone so users can pinch and zoom when using satellite navigation and create custom homepages for shortcuts to favoured features.

Jeremy Hicks, Jaguar Land Rover UK MD, said: “There is huge momentum behind Jaguar in the UK at the moment with record sales, high footfall at retailers and more customers considering the brand than ever before. Work doesn’t stop here though, these latest updates to the XJ show we’re still working to improve our line-up and widen its appeal to even more UK buyers.”

“The very latest technology and peak of Jaguar performance are now available in our flagship model, adding to the already impressive package of style, comfort and agility. The Jaguar XJ has always been designed as the ultimate luxury driver’s car, and with the new 2018 model year range and the XJR575 we’ve made it even more desirable.

Exterior details include a rear spoiler, side sills, front bumper and lower air intakes, featuring gloss black surrounds.

The XJR575 is manufactured at JLR’s Bromwich plant alongside the XE, XF, F-Type and XJ model lines.

Earlier this month, JLR announced its new mid-sized SUV will be built in Austria and China. The car giant said UK facilities were “close to capacity”, so it had agreed a deal with engineering and manufacturing specialist Magna Steyr in Graz, Austria. The E-Pace will also be produced exclusively for the Chinese market at Chery JLR’s manufacturing plant in Changshu.
