WHILE Leicester City are well into their pre-season schedule, the club’s owners will have an eye on the opening seven-furlong handicap (1.50pm).

STRAIGHT RIGHT will carry the colours of King Power Racing having been bought and stabled with Andrew Balding after finishing seventh in the Group One Commonwealth Cup.

Obviously, Saturday’s race represents a huge step down in class and also a step up in trip to seven furlongs.

The French import, previously with Christophe Ferland, was a winner over a mile in Listed company and fourth in a recognised French Guineas trial, the Group Three Prix Djebel.

That sort of form makes him very dangerous on his handicap debut in the UK and he’s a cracking price as well.

At a general 9/1, the son of Siyouni looks a great each-way bet against far more exposed horses.

Remarkable looks like going of favourite at around the 11/4 mark but he hasn’t won in seven starts.

He’s been dropped just a pound for his sixth in the Royal Hunt Cup and I think he may need a bit more help from the handicapper before scoring again.

Don’t get me wrong, he’s run in some very competitive races of late and this looks a much easier assignment, but he’s far too short in the betting.

Rusumaat is potentially interesting at around the 8/1 mark.

Mark Johnston’s runner looked up against it over a strongly-run mile at Sandown last time out and the step back to seven furlongs should help.

He has bits of form on soft ground too and should be able to handle conditions better than some should the rain materialise.
