Barclays has announced that Matthew Lester has been appointed as a non-executive director of Barclays. He will take up his appointment on 1 September. Lester will join the board audit and the board risk committees on appointment. He has a strong finance background and extensive board-level experience. He currently serves on the boards of Capita and Man Group, as a non-executive director, where he also chairs the board audit and risk committee of each company. Since 2010, he has been chief financial officer of Royal Mail and has also served as group finance director of ICAP between 2006-2010 and prior to this held various executive management positions at Diageo, including treasurer and group financial controller.
The board of Drax Group has announced that David Nussbaum has been appointed as a non-executive director with effect from 1 August. Nussbaum is chief executive of The Elders who he joined in October 2016. The Elders is an independent group of global leaders working together for peace, justice and human rights, founded by Nelson Mandela in 2007. Prior to that he was chief executive of the World Wide Fund for Nature UK (WWF-UK) from 2007 and chaired WWF’s Global Climate and Energy Initiative. He is also currently non-executive chair of Transparency International UK, and a member of the board of the International Integrated Reporting Council.
Mayflex, the distributor of Converged IP Solutions, has appointed a new director of sales – security. Steve Proctor will commence his role on 1 August and his key responsibilities will be to lead and support both internal and external sales teams, ensuring the continued growth and development of this area of the Mayflex business through taking market share, growing customer numbers and increasing project wins. Proctor comes to Mayflex with a wealth of experience gained in the security industry over the last 40 years. Notable achievements have included the development and management of large sales teams, implementing business growth strategies, development of value add, consultancy led sales and marketing campaigns, and launching installer training and certification programmes.
