London is the third best city in the world and the best in Europe to be a female entrepreneur, new research reveals.
The UK capital pulled ahead of locations such as Boston, Singapore, Berlin and Dublin and was beaten by only New York and San Francisco.
The research was based on analysis of 72 different indicators in 50 cities around the world by Dell Technologies, with rankings based on five different areas combining in an overall score. That included: markets, talent, capital, culture and technology.
London ranked in the top five in all categories, except culture, signalling the city's ability to attract and support women entrepreneurs.
Six of the top ten cities were in the US, while Stockholm was the only other European city to make the top level of the ranking. London's nearby rival Paris came in twelfth position, Amsterdam at 19, Berlin at 21 and Barcelona at 29. Meanwhile, Copenhagen (25) Munich (31), Dublin (34) and Warsaw (35) rounded out the top 50.
The report noted that all the 25 cities which featured last year had improved, with nearly all boasting more news stories about female entrepreneurs. A growing number of accelerators and funding for startups founded by women were also found in many, suggesting this was due to an increase in female founded venture capital firms.
