Major disruption on services into London Euston after person hit by a train

There is major disruption on rail services between London Euston and Milton Keynes Central after a person was hit by a train earlier today.

At approximately 8.50am, officers from British Transport Police (BTP) were called to the railway line close to Milton Keynes Central after reports a person had been struck by a train.

Officers are currently on scene alongside paramedics from the South Central Ambulance Service, however sadly a person has been pronounced dead. Work is now being done to identify the person and inform their family.

At present, officers remain on scene and are making enquiries to establish how the person came to be on the tracks. The incident is not being treated as suspicious.

National Rail said although lines have now reopened, major disruption to London Midland and Virgin trains between Milton Keynes Central and London Euston will continue until 5pm.

The routes affected include services between Euston and the following:

  • Northampton
  • Birmingham New Street
  • Crewe
  • Wolverhampton
  • Chester
  • Manchester Piccadilly
  • Glasgow Central
  • Liverpool Lime Street
  • Holyhead
  • Edinburgh
