In-demand striker Romelu Lukaku is set to undergo a medical in Los Angeles as his £75m move from Everton to Manchester United moved a step closer.
Lukaku, who scored 25 Premier League goals last season, is expected to sign a five-year contract with the Old Trafford club worth in the region of £250,000 a week.
The completion of the deal would see the 24-year-old reunited with Jose Mourinho, who sold the frontman to Everton for £28m during his second spell in charge of Chelsea in 2014.
It would also represent a major blow to Premier League champions Chelsea after the Blues appeared set to lure the prolific marksman back to Stamford Bridge.
Should United clinch the signing of Lukuku, it is likely to end their interest in Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata, while their pursuit of Lukaku is not thought to be linked with Wayne Rooney’s potential return to Goodison Park.
Lukaku is a client of agent Mino Raiola, who also looks after midfielder Paul Pogba, striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic and winger Henrikh Mkhitaryan – all three players signed for United last summer.
