Monzo cardholders have been advised to use another card today, as the payments service works to get its system up and running again after an issue with a supplier.
The fintech startup said a supplier is experiencing problems "which may cause declined payments when you try to use your card".
Monzo, which rebranded from original name Mondo in August last year, warned that the app may show a payment as successful even though it was not, and the amount may appear to have been deducted from a user's balance but this is a display error – your balance “behind the scenes” has not been debited.
Top-ups and Monzo to Monzo payments and Monzo.me payments have been temporarily disabled as card payments are still failing for a large number of customers.
"We are working hard with our supplier in order to get back up and running as soon as possible. We don't have a resolution time yet, but we will keep you updated," the company said.
Monzo was hit by similar issues earlier this year when it went down because one of its suppliers was running "an unexpected large migration".
