MB Aerospace yesterday announced a $1bn (£780m) contract to provide flight engine parts to a US firm.
The Scotland-based firm described the deal with Pratt & Whitney as a “milestone opportunity” and estimates 160 engineering specialists have been and will be recruited within the next three to five years to service the contract and meet wider industry demand.
“We are delighted that our highly-skilled employees will have the opportunity to serve Pratt & Whitney for the next decade on these key programmes,” said Craig Gallagher, MB Aerospace chief executive officer.
Gallagher said the industry faces an “intense” period of growth over the next few years.
“We are hugely respectful of the trust placed in us by United Technologies and Pratt & Whitney to support their programmes. MB Aerospace and UTC already possess a strong working relationship across Pratt & Whitney’s installed base programmes, and this contract represents a milestone opportunity for our world class teams to support UTC.”
