England Under-21 boss Aidy Boothroyd insists his side have no margin for error when they face Slovakia in their second European Championship clash at the Kielce City Stadion on Tuesday.

The Young Lions drew their opening tussle of the competition with holders Sweden on Friday, while Slovakia beat hosts Poland to propel themselves to the top of Group A.

“It’s knockout football now without a doubt,” said the former Watford, Colchester, Coventry and Northampton manager. “We’ve got to win and win the next one after that. But we have to beat the Slovakians first, who have had a brilliant start.

“We have to go full pelt for every game but at the same time because of the squad that we’ve got I’ve got to think about using everyone that’s in it. But we have to win, so I’ve got to pick the best, even if some might be a bit tired.”

Only the group winners and the best runner up from the three pools progress to the tournament’s semi-finals.
