Leicester are expected to make Hull defender Harry Maguire their first signing of the summer in the coming days in a deal worth up to £17m.

Maguire, 24, joined Hull from boyhood club Sheffield United for £3m in 2014 and shone for the Tigers last term despite their relegation to the Championship.

Leicester are also thought to have had a £10m bid rejected for West Brom captain Jonny Evans as the former Premier League champions seek to overhaul their ageing central defence.

Manchester United are set to complete the £31m signing of Benfica defender Victor Lindelof after he arrived in England to wrap up the transfer on Tuesday.

Lindelof, 22, is an established Sweden international and helped their Under-21 team win the European Championship in 2015.

His arrival has prompted speculation over the future of United and England centre-back Chris Smalling, whose bravery was questioned by manager Jose Mourinho last season.

Sunderland, meanwhile, have moved closer to appointing Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes their new manager after agreeing a compensation package with the Scottish club.
