GUESSING what the weather is going to do in June is no easy task and the forecasters are expecting plenty of rain at Haydock ahead of their meeting tomorrow.

It’s already been a pretty wet week in the north west and siding with soft ground horses appears to be the most sensible option.

The first of the two Group races on the card is the Pinnacle Stakes (3.30pm), where I like the look of AJMAN PRINCESS.

She bombed out in last season’s Irish Oaks having run a decent second in the Ribblesdale at Royal Ascot on her previous start.

Since then, she has got back on track, winning at Lingfield and then bolting up at Goodwood last month.

The fact that she has won in the soft is also a huge plus and the lack of market support last time suggests connections expected her to need that run.

The reality is she would only have to repeat that form to take all the beating here and 11/4 looks tempting.

Breton Rock would have been my original selection for the John Of Gaunt Stakes (4.05pm) when he was available at around 8/1 earlier in the week, but at half that price now he looks a little skinny.

The more rain that falls, the better his chance. However, he does have to carry a penalty here and instead I’m going to take a chance on MITCHUM SWAGGER at 8/1.

He’s another proven with plenty of cut in the ground and I expect him to go well now he has a couple of runs under his belt.

Finally, over at Newmarket, conditions look a little drier and I fancy last week’s Epsom scorer JUANITO CHICO to go in again over seven furlongs (2.30pm).

He needs to win this to get into a race like the Britannia Handicap at Royal Ascot in a fortnight’s time and he should be hard to stop in his current form.

Pointers Tomorrow

Juanito Chico 2.30pm

Ajman Princess 3.30pm

Mitchum Swagger 4.05pm
