Today's City Moves cover legal eagles and brokerages. Take a look at these movers and shakers:

Fox Williams

City law firm Fox Williams has expanded its financial services regulatory team with the appointment of two new partners. Sona Ganatra has been promoted from legal director to partner, while regulatory specialist Chris Finney joins the firm from the London office of a leading US law firm, where he was partner. Sona specialises in contentious UK financial services regulatory issues and internal corporate investigations. She advises corporates and individuals on matters such as anti-money laundering, bribery and corruption, fraud and insolvency issues. Chris’s expertise is in UK and European regulatory issues and his clients include national and international (re) insurers, payment services providers, private equity venture capital fund managers, brokers and fintech companies of all kinds.

Norton Rose Fulbright

Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright has announced 45 partnership hires worldwide, across various sections of the business including M&A, banking and finance, financial restructuring and insolvency, and dispute resolution and litigation. In London, the promotions include Nicholas Berry, Victoria Birch, Charlotte Henry, Noleen John, Claire O’Donnell, and Holly Stebbing, all of whom work in the corporate, M&A and securities office. Neha Khosla and Andrew Wood from the banking and finance office have also been made partners, effective yesterday. “I am delighted to welcome the newest generation of partners and directors who will play a key role in the future development of the business,” said global chief executive Peter Martyr. “These promotions underline our ongoing investment and commitment to our industry strengths and practice areas. As we continue to grow globally these individuals will further support our clients and our own global ambitions. Congratulations to all.” The law firm said 18 out of the 45 global promotions went to women.

Cenkos Securities

Alex DeGroote, media analyst, has joined Cenkos Securities, effective immediately. He joins from Peel Hunt, the small/mid-cap broking house. Prior to Peel Hunt, Alex had been a media analyst at Panmure Gordon from 2005 to 2014, and before that at Credit Agricole, among others. At Cenkos Alex will be reunited with former colleagues Simon French and Andrew Saunders, who also previously worked as analysts for Panmure Gordon. Beyond his work on technology, media and telecommunications companies, Alex will be part of the Cenkos team building a presence in the north west of England. Prior to entering a career in the City, Alex attended the London School of Economics, and the University of Durham.
