SPRINT races on Epsom’s five-furlong course are always fast and furious – it’s blink and you’ll miss it stuff.
Wednesday's Investec Asset Finance Handicap (2.10pm) features 11 speedballs, some of whom will be trying to come back for the valuable Dash on Derby day.
The winners of the last two renewals – Normal Equilibrium and Monumental Man – are back for more and of that pair I would favour the latter.
He was highly tried last summer, but was kept busy over the winter and won well at Lingfield a few weeks ago.
Fitness certainly won’t be an issue, although he is pretty exposed as an eight-year-old.
The one I am backing is Ron Harris’ MAJESTIC HERO, who ran a cracker on his seasonal reappearance at Newmarket last week.
He was nailed right on the line by El Astronaute and that race looked a stronger one than this.
This is his first start at Epsom, but the track should suit and he has a good draw in stall nine.
He also gets on well with Jamie Spencer who was in the saddle last week. Take XX with 188BET.
There are plenty of other threats, not least Just That Lord who ran well at Kempton on Easter Saturday.
The closing Investec Private Banking Handicap (5.00pm) is a very difficult puzzle to solve with 16 three-year-old handicappers going to post.
Clive Cox is in great form at present and I like the look of his MASTEROFDISCOVERY at XX with XX.
He bolted up under a front-running ride from John Fahy at Windsor earlier this month and it can be hard to make up ground at Epsom sometimes.
His draw in stall five is perfect to try to repeat those aggressive tactics.
