Business travellers may no longer be able to work on their laptops while flying in a matter of weeks.

It emerged today that passengers flying from the UK and other European locations to the US could be banned from carrying large electronic devices.

British security chiefs have been told that the administration of US President Donald Trump might expand its existing restrictions on some Middle Eastern countries to include the UK, according to The Times.

This would mean that anything larger than a mobile phone, including tablets and e-readers, would not be allowed in the cabin on a flight to the US from the UK.

No final decision has been taken but a US official confirmed to The Times that the UK was on the list of countries being considered for extended security restrictions.
