You've got to be quick if you want one of these

Peter Rabbit has bounced onto UK coins today, after The Royal Mint issued a set of colourful 50ps.

The limited edition coins will be released over the course of 2017, with four new designs featuring Peter Rabbit, Benjamin Bunny, Tom Kitten and Jeremy Fisher - re-imagined in full colour.

The new, technicolor versions follow the popularity of a similar 2016 collection, which celebrated the much-loved author’s 150th anniversary.

The 2016 collection, which sold out within days, featured Peter Rabbit, Jemima Puddleduck, Squirrel Nutkin and Mrs Tiggywinkle.

“We’re delighted to be able to present another group of her exquisite characters, giving them a new lease of life on our specially-designed coloured commemorative coins.” says Anne Jessopp, director of commemorative coins at The Royal Mint.

If you want to get you hands on these you will need to be quick - only 30,000 coins are being released today, according to Sky News.

But there’s no need to panic, the set will be released for general circulation later this year.
