Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has ruled out ever managing Barcelona and insisted he could never imagine himself taking charge of north London rivals Arsenal.
Pochettino was linked with Barcelona earlier this month after Luis Enrique announced his intention to quit the Catalans at the end of the season. Last week, he was spotted in a bar with the club’s president Josep Maria Bartomeu.
The 46-year-old Argentinian has pointed to his previous association with Espanyol and claimed his loyalty to Barcelona’s cross-town rivals would make it impossible for him to move to Camp Nou.
“I know him [Bartomeu] for a long time,” said Pochettino. “Our children went to the same school in Barcelona. We spent five minutes together. That was the reality.
“I am an Espanyol supporter. It’s like one day, [Tottenham chairman] Daniel Levy sacked me, in a few years it would be impossible for me to manage Arsenal.”
Tottenham play Burnley at Turf Moor tomorrow as they bid to close the gap on Premier League leaders Chelsea. The Blues currently hold a 10-point lead over second-placed Spurs.
