Tram services have been suspended around the area where a tram overturned in Croydon yesterday morning.

The tragic incident which involved a tram derailing and overturning left seven people dead and dozens more injured.

A 42-year-old man arrested in connection with the incident yesterday has been released on police bail.

The Rail Accident Investigation Branch has said: "Trams approaching from the New Addington direction have to negotiate a sharp, left-hand curve with a speed limit of 20 km/h (12 mph) before reaching the junction.

"The derailment occurred on the curve and initial indications suggest that the tram was travelling at a significantly higher speed than is permitted."

Elsewhere in London, commuters are facing a third, and possibly fourth, day of delays on Thameslink and East Midlands Trains services due to signalling problems.
