Twitter is either a place you love to be on election night, or downright hate to be.

As the results rolled in and the tables turned, social media was providing endless sources of amusement for those who decided to stay up and see history made.

Donald Trump stayed offline, but recently has sent his first tweet since winning, and has even updated his bio and cover photo too.

Lots of Brits are keen to show the similarities between this, and the UK's Brexit result in June. 2016, it's been quite a year...
