Eurostar services between London and the Continent through the Channel Tunnel have been halted this afternoon, due to a power outage.

"Please be aware that we are currently experiencing disruption to Eurostar services, more details will follow shortly once the full impact has been established," the rail operator said in a statement on its website.

Eurostar said on Twitter that it expects the fault will take "at least a couple of hours to fix".

A number of services have been cancelled.

Eurostar today reported that a downturn in passenger numbers caused by a combination of Brexit and terror attacks had led it to cut 80 jobs.
