Yorkshire Building Society
Yorkshire Building Society has appointed Mike Regnier as chief executive. Mike, who joined the Society in 2014, is currently chief customer officer and executive director. Mike, who has 20 years’ corporate experience in consulting and retail financial services, was formerly products and marketing director at Lloyds Banking Group, where he was responsible for the re-launch of the TSB brand on the UK high street. He has previously held senior positions at HBOS, ASDA and the Boston Consulting Group. Mike will replace Chris Pilling, who announced in June his decision to step down at the end of the year.
Strabens Hall
Strabens Hall, an independent wealth advisory boutique, has recruited Christopher Yardley as a financial planner to its London office. Christopher joins the London office from Time investments where he was involved with a range of funds with total assets of about £550m. Prior to this, he began his financial career as a private client stockbroker at Union Investment Management, specialising in blue chip equities on S&P 500 and FTSE 100 markets. Christopher brings a wealth of skill and knowledge to the role, as a chartered member of the CISI. In December he will have completed the chartered wealth manager qualification in addition to having already been awarded the diploma in financial advice and the CFA institute’s investment management certificate.
Grant Thornton
Grant Thornton has strengthened its restructuring, debt and pensions advisory offering with seven new partner and director appointments. The four new partners include two external hires – Senthil Alagar, who has joined from Alvarez and Marsal in London and Sarah O'Toole who joins the firm's Manchester office from Alix Partners. Matt Richards joins the firm's London team as a director from KPMG. Helen Dale and Amaechi Nsofor are both internal promotions to partner. Chris McLean has been promoted to director and now leads the firm's debt advisory team in London. Grant Thornton's regional debt advisory team is led by Philip Stephenson, a director based in the firm's Manchester office. Jamie MacKenzie has been made a director in the firm's pensions advisory team.
Pension Insurance Corporation
Pension Insurance Corporation (PIC), a specialist insurer of defined benefit pension funds, has appointed Jon Aisbitt as chairman of its board. He replaces Sir Mark Weinberg, one of the founders of the business and chairman since 2006, who is retiring. Jon’s appointment has been approved by the Prudential Regulation Authority. Jon has more than 20 years’ experience in corporate finance, including 16 years in the investment banking division at Goldman Sachs. He was one of the first European Partners, joining the company in 1986, helping to develop the Goldman business in Europe. Whilst at Goldman he gained extensive experience advising large European corporates, including financial institutions, on capital structure, capital raising and mergers and acquisitions. His final three years at Goldman were spent as chairman of the company’s Australia business. From 2007 until May 2016, Jon was chairman of Man Group, the FTSE250 provider of alternative investment products with over $70bn under management.
