PayPal has named Mark Brant as managing director of PayPal UK. Mark has been promoted to this role following his tenure as general manager, merchant services UK. Mark joined PayPal UK in 2008 as director of large merchant sales before promotions to sales director and general manager of merchant services, UK in 2012. During his time leading the merchant services team, Mark has increased PayPal’s availability as a way to pay across new and diverse sectors with significant new business customers including John Lewis and Ryan Air, as well as Parent Mail. Before joining PayPal, Mark spent nine years at American Express where he led UK sales, retail and client management.

LGT Vestra

LGT Vestra has appointed Mark Myers to its financial mutuals team as a strategic adviser. Mark is stepping down in 2017 from his position as CEO of leading protection provider British Friendly Society after nearly seven years in the role. Mark’s vision and forward thinking on the opportunities for the Friendly Societies sector are well known, and his appointment further strengthens LGT Vestra’s positioning within this market. Mark will advise LGT Vestra on enhancing its already strong position in the market, ensuring the firm continually improves its service offering to the Friendly Societies and Financial Mutuals, to meet this sector’s ever increasing complex needs.

Metro Bank

Metro Bank has appointed Andy Hallett as director of property and Hannah-Louise Smith as director of cash management and deposits. Both will report directly to Mark Stokes, Managing Director of Commercial Banking. Andy will be responsible for leading the bank’s commercial property business and Hannah-Louise will oversee growing the Metro Bank’s operational cash deposits and net interest income. Joining from NatWest, Andy was previously managing director – real estate finance responsible for running the national SME business and has over 15 years’ experience in real estate finance, spanning commercial, corporate, institutional and global banking markets. Hannah-Louise was formerly UK head of liquidity solutions for SME banking at Lloyds Banking Group.


Aldermore has appointed Stuart Baty as head of business development – south for its invoice finance division. Stuart will be responsible for supporting SMEs across the South who need access to funding to grow their business. In his new role, Stuart will be reporting to Chris Meldrum, national business development director for Aldermore Invoice Finance. Stuart has over 15 years of experience in providing finance to SMEs. He joins Aldermore from Santander Corporate and Commercial Banking where he was a director in the Invoice finance team with a primary focus on asset-based lending in London. Prior to this, Stuart was a regional Sales manager at Premium Credit where he led the Southern UK sales team.
