CVC Capital Partners

CVC Capital Partners has appointed Cathrin Petty partner and head of European healthcare. Cathrin will be based in CVC’s London office. She joins CVC from JP Morgan where she was head of healthcare in EMEA. Prior to this, she was a special partner at Vitruvian Partners and a partner at Apax Partners on their healthcare/life sciences team. Cathrin has worked on numerous healthcare transactions, including the IPOs of Spire Hospitals, LEO Pharma’s acquisition of Astellas Derm, Roche’s acquisition of Intermune and the sales of LGC to KKR and Atos Medical to PAI Partners. She has also held numerous non-executive positions including at the NHS, Circassia Pharmaceuticals, Icon, Qualitest, and Zeneus Pharma.

App developer Pocket App has appointed Hugh Griffiths, a former director of mobile services at Microsoft, as interim chief executive officer. Paul Swaddle, the incumbent CEO, has taken up the position of chairman. Over the last 15 years Hugh has grown, largely from scratch, the digital content and application businesses of Independent News and Media, O2/Telefonica and Microsoft in the UK. He has also managed mobile advertising businesses and launched a mobile adtech business, 5th Tier (now and acted as an industry consultant.

Houlihan Lokey

Houlihan Lokey has appointed Paul Simpson and Larry DeAngelo as managing directors to lead the firm’s global business services group. Paul will be based in London and Larry will will be based in Atlanta.Paul joins Houlihan Lokey after nearly two decades at Rothschild, where he held a number of roles, most recently serving as managing director and global head of business services. During his tenure at Rothschild, he advised on more than 100 transactions. Larry joins from SunTrust Robinson Humphrey where he was managing director in the mergers and acquisitions group. He has also held senior roles at a number of private equity funds.

Latham & Watkins

Latham & Watkins has appointed Simon Baskerville as partner in the finance department. Simon has more than 17 years’ experience representing debtors, administrators and creditors in the UK. In particular, he regularly advises alternative asset managers active in special situations and other debt investments. He also has significant experience in a wider range of corporate transactions, including public and private M&A and capital fundraisings.
