Payne Hicks Beach
Central London law firm Payne Hicks Beach has announced that Virginia Farquharson, a chartered accountant, has been appointed to the newly created director of management role, following the retirement of Peter Black, as managing partner. Virginia has enjoyed a long career at Payne Hicks Beach for over two decades, principally as director of finance and administration. Peter will retire on 31 May after a distinguished career at Payne Hicks Beach both as a lawyer and law firm leader. He has been at the firm for more than 15 years and taken the leadership role of managing partner for the past five.
Cifas
Cifas, the UK’s fraud prevention service, has announced the appointment of Lady Barbara Judge as the organisation’s new chairman. Lady Barbara will officially take up the role in September 2016, when she succeeds Ken Cherrett, who is standing down after 25 years’ service. Lady Barbara, a trained commercial lawyer with both British and US citizenship, is currently national chairman of the UK Institute of Directors and completing her second term as chairman of the UK Pension Protection Fund. She is also a UK business ambassador. Previously she was a commissioner of the US Securities and Exchange Commission and subsequently deputy chairman of the UK Financial Reporting Council. She has also been a public member of the International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants.
Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking
Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking has appointed Ian Baggott as head of loan markets within capital markets. Ian joined Lloyds Bank in 2008 and brings nearly 30 years’ industry experience to the position having held a number of senior roles in managing credit, origination and syndication teams at NatWest, BHF-Bank and Rabobank. He has since led the bank’s loan markets offering for financial institutions and the commercial real estate sector. He was in January named interim head of loan markets, when Simon Allocca was appointed global head of industrials and manufacturing.

CarKeys.co.uk has announced the expansion of its senior team, as Chris Smith becomes head of the site that delivers customer insight to hundreds of dealerships, and Sean Harris joins as commercial operations manager. Formerly general manager at Lease Plan, Chris will take charge of developing front-end capabilities to ensure consumers continue to enjoy the independent, professional reviews which are becoming increasingly influential in their decision making process. Sean will be working closely with the business development team to continue expanding CarKeys.co.uk’s existing dealer network, as well as strengthen relationships with those partners already signed.
