Elon Musk unveiled Tesla's “car of the people” on Thursday and has been keeping his Twitter followers up-to-date on its progress.
In his latest update, Musk revealed that pre-orders reached 276,000 by the end of Saturday. And he recommended others get their orders in fast.
The average price of a Model 3 is $42,000 (£29,500), including the price of options and additional features.

The new five-door sedan Model 3 will go from 0-60mph in less than six seconds and have a range of at least 215 miles.
To pre-order, customers must pay a deposit of £1,000, although this is refundable.
Musk said he will give another update on pre-orders on Wednesday.
