RUMOUR reaches The Capitalist that all is not well at one of Mayfair’s newest watering holes for London’s hedge fund set.
According to our mole in the West End, 12 Hay Hill, a private members club that offers respite for lawyers, hedge fund bosses and City boys, may need a new PR firm as the current one is planning to sue them over payment disputes.
The firm, which requested anonymity, had been working with the club’s owner since it opened in 2014, but problems arose when it was alleged that the marketer stopped being paid for its services last summer.
Our source told us that the PRs failed to secure a satisfactory agreement or explanation as to why payments stopped, and the firm sent a formal legal letter to the club in October, the same month 12 Hay Hill held a late launch party for members and celebrity guests, including fashion firm Low Profile’s chief and former Dragon Touker Suleyman.
The firm sent a second letter to the club, enclosing a draft claim, with the help of its legal team last week.
The club has made waves in Mayfair in recent years, hiring michelin-starred chef Shaun Rankin as its head chef, and receiving critical acclaim from leisure industry leaders.
City A.M. has approached 12 Hay Hill for comment and is awaiting a response.
Perhaps staff were busy fetching drinks for the club’s legal members.
