Sam Pridham after 10 weeks of his transformation; the City gym

“In 10 weeks I’ve completely turned my fitness around,” says Sam Pridham, our guinea-pig for No.1 Fitness’ Total Body Transformation. “I had no idea how quickly I’d get into shape – now the end of the 12-weeks is in sight I can’t wait to get into the gym every morning.”

But training isn’t the only thing on offer at No.1 Fitness – they also run courses so you can make fitness a career instead of a hobby. No.1 Fitness co-founder Harry Thomas gives us the lowdown on Training Trainers.

Who should become a trainer?

Anyone who is passionate about health and fitness and is looking for a new career. I know there are a lot of people in the City who are wondering if maybe it’s time for a change. Being a trainer is fun and social and you can make really good money doing it.

What does the course entail?

We run an intensive course, which lasts for six weeks, three days a week, and a weekend course over 11 weeks. Both cover your Level 2 and 3 Fitness Instructor and Personal Trainer awards and are enough to get you going in the industry. We’ve also formed partnerships with some of the leading gym chains and training studios and guarantee you a job interview after the course.

What’s special About your course?

We started the course because there are so many bad personal trainers out there. It’s a big investment for people and they deserve to have a decent trainer. As we run a gym, we’ve worked with a lot of different people and we’ve seen the good side and the bad side of a lot of different training methods. We really push the nutrition side of things – which as you can see from Sam is really important – and we stress how important it is to invest in your client rather than just give them a regime to get on with.
