Bank to announce rates decision as China woes weigh – London Report
THE BANK of England will be centre of attention on Thursday when it provides a simultaneous release of its monetary policy decision and minutes from its monetary policy committee (MPC) meeting.
The MPC is almost certain to keep interest rates unchanged at 0.5 per cent, with worries about China and oil price declines meaning other committee members are unlikely to join Ian McCafferty in voting for a rate hike, as he did last month.
Tomorrow sees the publication of the latest BRC-KPMG Sales Monitor.
There will be a flurry of company reports this week, including:
Today: Primark-owner Associated British Foods and Dechra Pharmaceuticals.
Tomorrow: Redrow, Genus, Ashmore, Whitbread and Berkeley Group.
Wednesday: Barratt Developments, Hargreaves Landsdown and Sports Direct.
Thursday: Dunelm, Morrisons, Next, Dixons Carphone and Home Retail.
Friday: J. D. Wetherspoon.
