Hiroshima remembers nuclear bomb victims

Bells tolled and thousands bowed their heads in prayer in Hiroshima yesterday at cerem­onies marking the 70th anniversary of the world’s first atomic bombing. Mayor Kazumi Matsui urged that nuclear weapons be abolished. More than 100,000 people died at Hiro­shima when Colonel Paul Tibbets, the pilot of a B-29 named Enola Gay, dropped the bomb.
