A NEW book from a group of pro-market Conservative MPs is calling for an end to the BBC licence fee.

Author Kwasi Kwarteng, the MP for Spelthorne, outlines an alternative Tory manifesto. Beyond scrapping licence fees, Kwarteng also suggests regionalising the minimum wage, replacing the jobseeker’s allowance with a repayable loan, breaking up National Rail and phasing out subsidies for renewable energy.

Kwarteng’s book was published by the Free Enterprise Group, an organisation of more than three dozen Conservative MPs who push for less regulation. Business secretary Sajid Javid and environment secretary Liz Truss were among the group’s founders in 2011.
