Crowds flock to ninth annual Jupiter Nocturne
THOUSANDS of dedicated cycling fans gathered in Farringdon on Saturday night to watch elite cyclists race around London’s Smithfield Market.
Jupiter London Nocturne attracted riders ranging from Olympic champions and Tour de France stars, to amateur enthusiasts.
The free-to-attend event, which is hosted by fund management group Jupiter AM, is now in its ninth year.
Farringdon’s bars and restaurants got in on the action too, with live music and entertainment adding to the street festival feel.
As well as the technically demanding Smithfield race circuit, spectators could watch the folding bike race, the penny farthing race and the Santander cycle hire race. Team JLT Condor rider Ed Clancy was first over the line in the men’s event, while Katie Archibald of Pearl Izumi Sports Tours International was the fastest woman.
