After Farage argued immigration was a driving factor in the rise of house prices, the other leaders piled in on him. However, Farage also turned to an interesting tactic of attacking the audience.
The Ukip leader said the audience was especially "left-wing" even by the BBC's standards. But Farage responded to a hard-hitting attack from his opponents, saying the real audience is at home.
Here's what the some political commentators made of the incident.
Major gaffe by Farage: never attack the audience. #BBCDebate— George Eaton (@georgeeaton) April 16, 2015
Farage has lost the audience in the hall. He'll be delighted. Really. This #bbcdebate is a left-wing echo chamber.— Iain Martin (@iainmartin1) April 16, 2015
