Energy cost concerns revealed as complex bills are criticised
ENERGY charges top consumers’ worry list of household expenses, a survey has found, while a new report has concluded that fewer people are switching supplier due to complex bills.
Energy bills were stated as the household expense most worried about by 29 per cent of people. Meanwhile, the complex structure of bills is preventing customers from getting the best deals, according to a new report by think tank Centre Forum released today.
The report – commissioned by Comparethemarket.com – compares the UK’s energy market to others in the EU and pins falling levels of energy switching in the UK on confusion around energy bills.
Comparethemarket.com has called on the energy regulator Ofgem to make it a legal requirement for energy providers to send all customers an annual review notice, or “trigger”, to encourage people to check that they are on the best tariff.
