The Emperor’s New Clothes: This is Russell Brand and Michael Winterbottom’s new documentary about the financial crisis
Comedian-turned-revolutionary Russel Brand is starring in a new documentary film from acclaimed British director Michael Winterbottom which explores the financial crisis and inequality.
The Emperor's New Clothes, presented by Brand, combines archive footage interviews and comedy to explore the divide between those at the top and the rest of society.
In the new trailer for the film, due for release on 24 April, Brand is seen questioning bankers bonuses and bailouts in the City during the global financial crash.
Brand has largely given up a career as a comedian and actor and become increasingly outspoken about politics, appearing on Question Time to debate Nigel Farage and urging people not to vote in elections.
He was named one of Prospect magazine's top 10 thinkers among luminaries such as economists Thomas Piketty and Paul Krugman, and Greek finance minister Yanis Varoufakis.
