Watch: Learn Spanish with Vinnie Jones in this hilarious new Three advert
Hollywood hard man Vinnie Jones has already gone from footballer to actor – but is he eyeing another career move?
"Spanish teacher" is the latest role he can add to his CV, after appearing in this hilarious advert for mobile network Three.
In the inspired promotion to let holidaymakers know they can use their phone in Spain at no extra cost on Three, Vinnie shares his essential Spanish phrases with us.
That includes “Alright sunshine, how you keeping?” (Hola cielo, cómo te va?) and “Oi, come over here and get in this selfie mate” (¡Eh, tío! Ven aquí para que salgas en este selfie).
Three marketing director Tom Malleschitz said the mobile operator thought it would be great to give holidaymakers “a helping hand learning the lingo by recruiting one of our most famous Brits, Vinnie Jones, to give us all a fun Spanish lesson.”
Holidaymakers in Spain and Vinnie Jones? Of Course. Makes perfect sense.
“I’ve holidayed in Spain for years and you can’t beat it for sun, sea, sand and a few sangrias,” says Jones. “Along the way I’ve managed to pick up a bit of the local lingo so it’s great to be able to share some with my fellow Brits and help them out as they prepare for their holiday.”
The resulting advert, with Jones’ dulcet east-end-accented tones and geezer demeanour, does turn out to be rather wonderful.
What with the owner of Three, Hutchison Whampoa, buying O2 from Spanish firm Telefonica, we can only imagine Vinnie’s language lessons were essential in getting the negotiations started.
