General Motors chief executive Mary Barra is one of the few women in a top job in the motoring industry. But 2014 wasn't an easy time to be in the sector: although sales recovered in the US, the number of car recalls was at a record high.

But with increasing demand for fuel efficiency and the self-driving car rapidly becoming a reality, it's also a fast-changing sector. Barra discussed the new technologies and partnerships set to radically transform the global automotive industry.
