Jennifer Lawrence has topped a list of the highest grossing actors of 2014. Forbes, famous for creating a range of measures for financial worth, compiled a list of the top 10 actors based on how much their films grossed in 2014.
Lawrence’s films, Mockingjay and X-Men: Days of Future Past, gleaned a cool $1.4bn, putting her top. Second on the list was Chris Pratt ($1.2bn), due largely to his role in this year’s surprise hit Guardians of the Galaxy, which brought in $772m. Guardians had been tipped by some as the first cinematic flop from Marvel; it featured unknown characters and didn’t have the breadth of following enjoyed by other comic-film adaptations. Pratt also added to his total through the Lego Movie, another surprise hit.
Closing out the podium was Scarlett Johansson ($1.18bn) whose films included Lucy, The Winter Soldier (part of the Captain America series) and Under the Skin.
