SPUSRS boss Mauricio Pochettino believes England Under-21 striker Harry Kane is in line to earn a senior call-up as his side prepare to host Newcastle in tonight’s Capital One Cup quarter-final.
Kane has been a regular in England’s second string but, after starting the domestic season in the shadow of more established marksmen, the 21-year-old is the White Hart Lane club’s leading scorer with 12 goals.
“Is it only a matter of time before he plays for England? Yes,” he said.
Forward Emmanuel Adebayor is not in contention for tonight’s clash, although full-back Kyle Naughton is set to feature in the squad following a heel injury.
