A survey released today names the Big Apple as the world’s leading financial centre

New York has beaten London in the race to be named the world’s leading financial centre.

Survey results, released today by Kinetic Partners, a finance consultancy, show that 59 per cent of those polled voted for New York. The survey had 300 respondents across the financial services and regulatory world.

London’s support dropped from 44 per cent last year to 38 per cent this year. London’s share of the vote is even lower compared with two years ago when it received 65 per cent of the vote.

The leading emerging financial centre was named overwhelmingly as Shanghai, which took 53 per cent of the vote compared with second- placed Dubai, which polled nine per cent.
