Mayfair's wealth management industry had its full plumage on show yesterday at the annual Grouse & Grape Luncheon, in the decidedly lavish Dartmouth House.
The event, in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support, was as much a networking event as a fundraiser, with old friends catching up over grouse baps and Laurent-Perrier.
“They have lots of events like this in the City, but we’re somewhat neglected over here in the West End so it’s great to get together for a good cause,” chairman of the luncheon and wealth management boss Michael Maslinski told The Capitalist.
Richard Hardwick, chairman and co-founder of Bespoke Beverages – which sells the world’s most expensive coffee, Kopi Luwak, to those who can afford it – was taken aback on arrival. His name badge read Richard Hardlick – quite an unfortunate typo. “Being Dickie Hardwick is challenging enough at the best of times,” he laughed, wearing a new hastily written badge.
Meanwhile, old friends Andrew Wimble of JM Finn & Co. and Partner Capital founder Peter O’Kane were chin-wagging and allowed us to take a quick snap. “Last time we were photographed together, there was a Page 3 model with us,” O’Kane told The Capitalist.
Before you jump to any conclusions, it was during a charity bike ride, (and for Page 3 connoisseurs, it was Peta Todd).
