It has been over a month since Destiny was released, yet interest in the "most expensive game of all time" is showing no signs of slowing down.

According to developer Bungie, 3.2m people play the game every day. And when they're playing, they're staying - clocking an average game time of around three hours a day.

Furthermore, Bungie claims that gamers are playing Destiny an average of 1.8 times a day, while the average gamer has played the online-only sci-fi game 20.9 times since its release.

By one interpretation, that could mean the average Destiny player has already racked up 62.7 hours of game time.

In a weekly update Bungie said:

Pioneering something new is never easy. When we see the raw numbers, it’s easy for us to say that the destination was worth the journey. Stay tuned for the next evolution of our shared adventure.

Bungie is the American video game developer behind Halo and Destiny. The latter is known to be the most expensive game in history at a price of around $500m (£311m).

The developer said that the number of online players in the first month of Destiny's release was bigger than Halo: 3 and Halo: Reach put together.

According to official sales monitor Chart Track, the game made more than $325m in its first five days of sales. The monitor also claimed those sales were evenly split across Xbox and PlayStation platforms.
